It's How You Live

After a day like today, I am reminded, yet again, that all too often
we spend our life worrying about things and wanting things that's in the end,
really don't mean anything.

After spending the day at my aunt's funeral,
I thought about how she is remembered already
by the little things she did, from the heart, for others.
Her status in community, what kind of house or car that she had,
none of that is remembered in the end,
what we think of now,
is how she lived her life.
You think after losing my mom
that I would've learned that lesson longed ago,
but you see therein lies the challenge.
What we know we should do, and what we actually do
are usually two different things.
Life gets so busy,
so many things come into our lives,
we tend to forget that lesson.
It takes days like today to bring it to mind yet again.

Each day is God's gift to us.
I hope that we all can remind ourselves each day
to stop,
enjoy our lives,
and even more importantly
to
LIVE our lives to the fullest.
Proverbs 27:1 tells us
"Boast not thyself of tomorrow;
for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth."

I come from a family that loves music.
As you can see from the many music clips
that I have placed on this blog,
I love music as well.
I thinks it provides
encouragement, comfort,
and serves to remind us of things
we often forget.
I hope that those of you that read this blog
will allow my words and the song clip below
to remind you to forget about the struggles
and stress that life sends your way.
Instead, live life to the fullest,
don't waste time looking back.
Celebrate each day
because when you reach
the end of this journey called life,
you will realize,
it wasn't about anything else other than
How You Lived.

  1. Michelle, I needed this song and reminder tonight. I have no doubt that I am being prepared to see my own Aunt go Home. In so many ways, it breaks my heart. In others, I KNOW that she is ready and also will be much happier than she ever could be here. Also, you know how crazy life gets and we REALLY do lose sight of "How To Live." Thank you for the reminder!
