The plus side to homeschooling

I haven't been a very good blogger as of late, but sometimes life takes over. When that happens, you have to prioritize. Between being a wife and mother, homeschooling, making decisions on the walk we are doing for Ella, church, family emergencies.......I could go on and on,
lets just say that this blog is about the last priority on the list.
The kids are studying space a little more in depth this year. We recently talked about Mars and its mighty volcano Olympus Mons. I am not the best at having a lot of projects for them to do, but every once in a while, I actually get it together enough to do one.
I thought I would share a few pictures of our volcano experiment.
Sometimes, this type of thing is actually where I get to see the lightbulb come one and witness the fun that learning brings about. That for me is the plus side.
Originally, Alex was the only one really interested in doing this.
She made her salt dough the night before and waited for it to harden.
Blake showed no interest.
That is, until he saw this.......

our version, lava and all

Once Blake saw this, he was ready to go

He filled the volcano with all the necessary ingredients

then waited anxiously......

Wow, that is cool!!

a boy being a boy
Blake just had to test the waters,
baking soda, dishwashing liquid, vinegar, food coloring
who wouldn't want to try it?!

I don't think that we will be seeing him do that again any time soon!!!
