Your not so average birthday present!

Ok, when last you heard from me, I was saying Happy Birthday to a little buddy of mine. That was on March 7, which is also my birthday. Though I could have stayed in and avoided any celebration of that fact, my husband had made plans for us to have dinner with my dad and step-mom at their restaurant in McEwen, Tn. Ordinarily, I would've gone without thinking twice; however, the weather forecasts had actually promised snow for our area. When I brought this minor little detail up to my husband, he greeted it with an eyeroll and reminded me of the fact that they ALWAYS say that and we NEVER get anything. I've always been told, NEVER say NEVER! After eating a delicious dinner, with a red velvet birthday cake for dessert, we tried to head home. My husband then made a bad decision to drive to Waverly and told me to make a quick run into Walmart. Upon arriving at the exit doors to Walmart, I soon realized, as did Jimmy, that this time, the weather forecasters were right.
Needless to say, driving in what we snow amatuers would call, a blizzard, while trying to reassure four kids that we have NOTHING to worry about, while I was worrying and praying, praying and worrying, and hanging on for dear life..... well, lets just say, it was more of a birthday present than I would've asked for! As a matter of fact, I think the main thing I received for my birthday were about a 100 new gray hairs! After getting stuck, getting stuck again, consoling 4 crying kids by telling them that with God all things are possible and to trust in Him to take care of us, and then finally praying to God to help us through, the doors of Heaven opened up and we were amazed to see a snow plow coming over the hill. We ALL knew it was God who sent that snow plow, Alex and Blake began to cry again and hollering Thank you God, Thank you God!! Thinking back, it is still amazing, but extremely hilarious at the same time. The snow plow was heading to the Humphreys/Houston County line, which just happens to be where my dad lives. Needless to say, we followed the plow all the way to my dad's house. Once there, the kids got out of the car singing "To God be the Glory", and though I laughed, I was reminded of how I/we always have Him to count on.
The next day the kids woke to an unbelieveable amount of snow. A kids dream, and though I don't quite get the joy from it like I use to, my joy comes from watching my kids. Due to a request from someone to see some snow pics, I'm posting a few of my favorites from that day, to see them all, there is a photo slideshow on the right side of this blog page.

It was great to see Dad actually having the chance to get in on the fun with the kids. I'm afraid he was outnumbered though 4 to 1!

It isn't often you get to make a snow angel as good as this!

One taken after we made it home that evening. He had gotten snow on his chin, and there was no way that he was dropping the snowball!
