Moments from Mother's Day 2008

We had a busy Mother's Day at our house.
After church,
I had a couple of special stops to make.
You see, Mother's Day this year
happened to arrive on the
15th anniversary of my mom's death.
Instead of focusing on the anniversary,
I decided this Mother's day to first focus my attention
on the two people closest to my mom.
My Wonderful Aunts Jean & Gay
I did it....
For My Mom
For Them
For Me.
They have been through so much in their lives,
so much in the last few years.
They have just lost their other sister to cancer
and have so much on their hearts and minds this year.
My goal was to brighten their day.
I truly didn't realize just how much they needed it; however,
I do believe that God did.

I stopped by Aunt Jean's house first to give her some flowers. The reaction I got was unexpected, after a few hugs and a few laughs, I began to realize that God must have known today that she needed to be reminded how much she is loved.

Aunt Gay was our next stop. There is no one closer to my mom than this lady. She loves me and mine as if we were her own. She is one special lady and as Conner told her that day, "You are my best friend." She means a lot to a lot of people, especially me.

After being taken out to lunch, we were on to our next stop. Jimmy's Mom & Sister Kathy. We don't know what we would do without them.

My Little Sweetheart was making his rounds. Aunt Kathy was first....

Grandma was not to be left out.

This was a special surprise that my kids did for me, with a little instruction from the ladies at Cleghern's Grocery.

They were very proud of themselves, and I was very proud of them.

We finished up Mother's Day on Monday with a visit to my step-mom, Sue.

Last, but certainly not least,

Me and my kiddos. I love them to pieces.

Life may be hectic at times, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. Each one of these four children bring something wonderful to my days. They give my life purpose, they make me laugh on days when I feel like crying, they make me stand tall at times when I would rather hide away.

All in all they make me feel blessed. Why did God honor me by placing these four in my life? Perhaps to blur the memory of what I don't have....

and remind me of what I do have.
