When was the last time.....

you allowed yourself to be a kid again &
played in the rain?
I remember being about 5 years old
standing on my front porch with my mom
watching the rain fall.
I wondered what it would feel like to play in the rain, and
wanted so badly to go out in it.
As if mom could read my mind,
she asked me if I wanted to play in the rain.
That was all I needed to hear and off I went.
I still remember the sheer joy I had at standing out there...
fully clothed....with hands out....
playing in the rain.

Fast forward to this past Saturday...
it came a downpour
Carson & I went to stand out on the deck and take it all in.

With this look, fuzzy at it is,
suddenly,
he reminded me of myself thirty years ago waiting for permission.

So naturally,
I had to follow my mom's example
and encouraged him to go have some fun.

After a few runs through,
he stopped and watched in awe
as the water ran over his hand.

Photobucket

then,
as every child seems to do,
he stuck his tongue out,
watching to catch a few drops.

Photobucket

This picture cracks me up.
He wasn't having a whole lot of raindrops to hit his tongue.
In this picture, it is almost like you see a twinkle in his eyes,
as another idea comes to mind.

Photobucket

and then he stretched his neck and tongue way out...
and closed his eyes.

Conner usually the first to try something ....
found himself wanting to share in the fun...
but he wasn't completely sold on the idea.

Photobucket

so he stuck his face and tongue out to see what it was like...
(this is a shot I wish I could've gotten from the side, but not at the risk of my camera!)

Photobucket

and since Dad is as big a kid as he is...
he helped him find the courage!!

Photobucket

the smile says it all!
*****
There is no chance of rain today
but the next time a few drops of rain comes your way...
throw caution to the wind
and remember what is was like to be a kid and spend a little time
playing in the rain.
