Moments from Saturday...

the toughest team we've played.
We scrimmaged them before the season began,
and I remember saying they looked like giants.
Imagine my surprise when I saw the teams listed
during practice last week,
and this New Johnsonville team was 0-4.
I used this as a form of encouragement for Blake
who wasn't really looking forward
to facing the "BIG" guys again!
I remember telling him not to lose hope
because something must have happened
because they hadn't won a game.
~~~
Fast forward to Saturday...
I mentioned those statistics to my husband
after Blake had headed out to warm up.
He held back his laughter as he told me
that in Jr. Pro football,
they list their stats a little differently.
THEY PUT THE LOSSES FIRST!!!!
So much for my big rallying speech for Blake.
I am sure he figured that out
when they scored a touchdown in the first
two minutes of the game!
We went on to be beaten 46-6.
They weren't thrilled to be beaten,
but secretly, I was happy for Blake.
If it's a blowout...
he gets to play more.
~~~
So, here are tons of photos, as usual.
Some of Alex and some of Blake.
Alex had to endure a downpour
during their half-time routine, but she did it like a trooper.
~~~
Another one down....
three to go.
Alex showing the
S-P-I-R-I-T!!!
Alex and Shania
doing the
Hustle cheer,
her favorite.
~~~

~~~
She is digging it,
can you tell?
Alex has really started to enjoy this cheerleading thing
Here she is flying high
Get in there, Blake, Get Him!!
Not my kid...
but I couldn't help myself.
This is Coach Keith with one of Blake's teammates.
This one I played with a little...
~~~
This is the color version.

~~~
The rain was a little bit of a blessing.
It kept these two from running all over the football field!
~~~

~~~
The girls doing their half time routine...
in the pouring down rain...
now that's dedication!
~~~
Conner's usual thing to do at the games
~~~
~~~
Blake got his chance to run with the ball...
~~~
~~~
but boy did he pay for it!
~~~
~~~
still going strong
~~~
~~~
Here he is helping to block for the quarterback
~~~
~~~~~

~~~~~
~~~
the quarterback was in trouble
and unexpectedly tossed Blake the ball at the last second...
~~~
~~~
he tried to catch the wet ball...
but it wasn't to be this time...
it resulted in a fumble.
~~~
~~~
and his team mate let him know about it.
~~~
~~~
when all is said and done
some are mad..
some feel defeated...
some still smile.
~~~
Blake is not smiling...so serious looking here...
he may not get to play much...
but he still takes it to heart.
~~~

~~~~~
~~~
One thing I am thankful for.
At the end of each practice
and at the end of each game...
their coach leads the team in prayer.
You wouldn't be able to do that just anywhere.
When they pray each player puts his hand on
another players shoulder.
That's what this moment is from.

Blake and Nana Sue
~~~
~~~
She begged me all day for one of these
after the game was over....she finally got one!

  2. I have to say that I am quite impressed with Alexandra's cheerleading ability! Who knew that she could do that stuff! Way to go Alex!
